As a western trained medical professional I have
been working with people with various acute, chronic and terminal
illnesses for many years. My work with people in crisis pushed me
to explore many different avenues of study in my quest for answers.
In my quest I came to realize that many of the questions of life
are indeed unanswerable and the courageous, well lived journey is
more important than the answer.
My journey brought me through my
own personal transformation and healing and often with the intent
of bringing health and wholeness to others and the world.
As part of my searching and study I completed a Master of Divinity
from Yale University. During that training I spent a year in residence
as a chaplain on a medical oncology unit and was often present and
witnessed to the beautiful lives and deaths of patients. A life affirming
experience.
I then went on to study ancient shamanic traditions with
Alberto Villoldo and The Four Winds Society. Dr. Villoldo
is a medical anthropologist who trained with Native American Medicine
people in the Andes and the Amazon. Alberto was one of those
chosen and trained by the Hatun Laika (master shaman) from the
Andean Mountains. Alberto trained and studied with the Andean Shaman
for over twenty-five years. I have been studying with Alberto for
several years.
As a young woman I had always had an affinity to
the native cultures of the America’s and I studied those native
cultures for many years. As I began my studies with Dr. Villoldo
it became quite clear to me that this was to be the true path that
spirit had called me to journey. As the saying goes, “when
the student is ready the teacher appears.”
We live in a time of great change and I believe
at this critical juncture we and the world are in need of healing.
As a white non-native woman I had questioned my right to step into
this place of shamanic power. I have stepped into this role
of shamanic energy practitioner because I have no choice, it is my
responsibility, now is the time, the time to awaken, to heal ourselves
and to heal the planet.
As the Hopi elders have said “it
is time to push the canoe from the shore.”
I am also
a registered Usui Reiki Master Teacher with the International Association
of Reiki Professionals an organization that adheres to a strict
Code of Ethics. The shamanic energy practices and the practice
of Reiki are beautifully complementing modalities.
As I continue on
my own life work and journey, I would be honored to assist you on
your journey of personal transformation and healing.
